Long Distance Transport Of Calves from Scotland to France and Spain

In collaboration with:

Our investigators at Tracks have been undertaking investigative trails on the long-distance trade in animals since the mid 90’s.

Twenty years ago, our Chief Executive, Gemunu de Silva, was the subject of a 2003 Animal Planet documentary “Animal Frontline” which followed him as he documented the plight of abused animals involved in the global live export trade. The film can be seen here.

Whilst much diminished since its heyday - the cruel trade of transporting baby calves thousands of miles still exists. In this trail we undertook for Compassion In World Farming, we followed calves down from Scotland - to Dover - to Calais - to stopping points in France.

Our investigative footage, narrated by Peter Egan, from this trail can be seen here.

Tracks Investigations has undertaken over 295 investigative film projects supporting over 40 conservation, environmental and animal protection NGOs since its inception in 2006. Learn more about how you can work with us here. To support our investigative work for animals, click here.
