Tracks Investigations Joins the Asia for Animals Coalition

We are pleased to announce that Tracks Investigations has joined the Asia of Animals Coalition (AfA), a group of leading animal protection and conservation organisations opposing animal cruelty in Asia. By joining this coalition, Tracks Investigations is committing to work alongside other animal organisations to put an end to the cruel and unsustainable exploitation of wildlife and farm animals in the region.

Through this coalition, Tracks Investigations will have access to a network of like-minded organizations and individuals, as well as valuable resources and information to help further their work in animal protection.

Last week as part of the coalition we were a signatory to a letter calling on the CITIES Animals Committee to review the trade of long-tailed macaques that are reported as “bred in captivity”

Long-tailed macaques are one of the world’s most heavily traded primates - and they are endangered as a result. Yet global demand for these monkeys as subjects of research and toxicity testing is higher than ever. Many suspect that a significant part of the “legal” trade in the species is, in fact, a largely illegal trade in wild-caught individuals falsely documented as captive-bred. Along the way, these monkeys are brutalized, and wild populations are being quickly decimated.

We have seen firsthand the suffering and cruelty that animals are subjected to through our investigations into the international trade in primates in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Mauritius, and Peru.

Together, we can work towards a more just and compassionate world for all animals and we are proud to stand with Asia for Animals. We look forward to working with the Coalition and other member organizations to bring an end to the exploitation of wildlife in Asia and create a more just and sustainable future for all.
